About
I’m a newbie at gardening here in the south. I’ve been interested in holistic and sustainable culture for a few decades. I’m a licensed esthetician (skin care specialist), locavorian, vegetarian, introvert and a car free, green minded gal living in a renewables powered small trailer named Fig Tree Cottage on a rented plot of Blackland Prairie with my spouse.
Why a trailer park?, you (& others) ask.
Because we believe in economical eco-mindedness.
Sustainability as a viable goal for the average joe.
So this is our experiment in taking baby steps toward going green on a limited budget.
We wanted to live close enough to our urban center that we wouldn’t need a car, we wanted to grow a food garden without having to buy a big plot of land, we wanted a very small home that wouldn’t cost a lot, and we wanted to retain the ability to be somewhat mobile given the shifting economy.
I journal here primarily about urban sustainability, greater community self reliance, localization, environmental issues, anti-consumerism, slow food, climate change and my victory garden. Thank you to everyone who reads this journal and everyone who helps me learn more about being better to this beautiful planet we live on.
